Little Black Dress

cleveland art museum 1I’m sure if you’ve been following my blog for some time (and if not… thanks for stopping by!), then you know that I’m most fond of flowy and oversized silhouettes, but after wearing this dress, have been drawn to tighter fits. cleveland art museum stepsThe funny thing, however, is that while I bought that dress within the past two months, I’ve actually had this one since January! What’s even crazier is that it’s only been worn at maxtwice since then!black midi dress 1asos black dressWhen I stumbled upon it on ASOS, there were so many things that drew me in. First, the lace… It’s just so pretty! I love that it spices things up and makes it more than just a plain, little black dress. Second, although I hate long hem lines, I think this one hits perfectly, which is just above my knee. I had been eyeing the midi trend for a while, and decided this one was most appropriate for my height. I also love that the neckline is not too deep and stays put so that I’m not constantly tugging upwards at the straps!hm kimonoIf you’re looking for more stylish pieces at a reasonable price, then I would definitely suggest the “Club L” line on ASOS! There’s so many cute dresses for going out, or to dinner, and most of it is under $60… pretty sure I scored this for around $25.zara sandalsNow, I’m sure you’re wondering about the kimono, as well! Remember that post where I talked about shopping your own closet? Well, this entire outfit (aside from my new pair of sunglasses) is a product of doing just that. I’ve actually had this kimono for at least three years now, and have worn it with everything from jeans and shorts, to now dresses!printed kimonoI purchased it at H&M, and it’s been one of those pieces that you throw on to keep jazzing up your outfit. As for my new sunglasses, I’m obsessed! Along with this pair that I wore with my favorite shirtdress, I purchased these and think I like them more than the others. I had initially anticipated only being able to wear them with a limited amount of pieces, but so far they’ve shown to be super versatile! black lace dressSo here’s to continue trying new things this summer! (Sunglasses and tighter dresses for!)

Have you guys stepped outside of your fashion comfort zone lately?!

I really like that dress and it looks really good on you! I can never pass up adding a new little black dress to my closet. Asos is one of my favorite places to shop too, but I haven’t heard of the Club L line yet so I’ll definitely have to check it out.
