Tying the Knot

striped dress with tie front

Happy Monday, everyone! It’s my second full week in Chicago and it’s been pretty great so far! I’ve been exploring and learning things around me, and my cousin was here for a quick visit this weekend – so it was nice to see a familiar face!

One thing about Chicago is that it’s super humid. I mean, it’s kind of horrible at times and I really hate feeling so sticky! However, do you want to know my secret? Cute and airy dressesI actually purchased this striped dress last fall, but hadn’t worn it until this summer! I’m so glad I remembered I had it because I’ve worn it too many times to share! The knotted detail is the best part because it adds some flavor to the classic striped dress. With the imminent decline in temperatures, I’m already visualizing this striped dress with a leather jacket – paired with OTK boots, or cute ankle booties.

Another must-have this season? Comfortable espadrilles. I’m typically a high-heels type of girl, but this summer I really took a laid-back approach and gravitated towards something more practical for everyday! They’re a bit tricky to get used to at first (I tripped on literally my first step in them), but after a few wears – I fell in love! They’re super easy to dress up and down and are extremely practical. I’ve worn them out to dinner and drinks with my friends, but I’m definitely wearing them to work this week.

I’ve been wanting a tie front dress for some time now! You looks stunning and I LOVE yours! And girl I grew up in Florida so I feel you on the humidity stand point.

Aw, Thanks so much! You seriously just made my day!! And anything that’s not flat is dangerous for me haha! And couldn’t agree more – sometimes I want to know what’s it like to be a boy!

I’m obsessing over knot-detail dresses and tops! Love this look! Also – your shoes are killer. I have a similar pair and have been wearing them non-stop. I hope you’re having a fabulous day!

Thanks so much, Audrey! Yeah they’re not as flat as some of the espadrilles I’ve seen – but they’re definitely a better alternative to all my high heels! lol

That knotted dress is so pretty and unique, a nice twist on a basic stripped dress! Your platforms are gorgeous, I’ve been wanting a pair like this all summer long, but I keep reminding myself that I have wayyy to many shoes… and a very small apartment!

Thank you very much, Tamara! And don’t even get me started – I bought a big, extendable shoe rack for all of my shoes and it STILL wasn’t enough!!

I completely agree about the platform shoes! I tripped way too many times when I first started wearing them!
