One of the age old questions that so many people have encountered is “How would you describe your style?” For some, they can fire off an easy and effortless answer, knowing exactly what they like and what’s most flattering for their bodies. But for people like me, it’s near impossible to answer such a daunting and complex question.
Dating back to 8th grade, I’ve gone through so many style phases that I’ve lost count. The most memorable ones have been punk (I wore band t-shirts with my skinny jeans tucked into my converse…*covers eyes*) and old lady (think of those printed, flowy tops your mom finds in Chicos). And to my utter disbelief, a few months ago I was called trendy (?!) – which bothered me more than I would have thought – so ever since then I’ve been on this journey of finding out what exactly my style entails.
Which brings us to this outfit. As I’ve people watched and garnered inspiration from my friends and tons of other fashion blogs, I’ve realized that nothing draws my attention more than a good top, jeans, and awesome heels. I think it oozes ease (even though it took me several tries to find the perfect black tank top), which is something that I’m incredibly attracted to.
In other words, ease to me also correlates with simplicity. Now, don’t get me wrong – I love my statement necklaces and earrings – but there’s something so fresh and clean about simple and minimal accessories. I received this necklace for my birthday, and it’s the perfect dainty piece! I also love this tank because of the little hint of lace at the top.
I purchased this jacket at the Nordstrom half-yearly sale, and I debated whether to bring it home with me. After wearing it out (to numerous happy hours, of course), it’s become one of my favorite staples. Sometimes I think blazers can be a bit too dressy and structured, and my other drapey jacket is in a sweatshirt-like material, so this jacket is the perfect mix. It’s easy.
And of course, I can’t forget about my favorite clutch and these silver heels. If you follow me on Instagram (which you totally should ;)) you know that I post it a lot… and probably will continue to! It’s just so awesome!
These Dolce Vita sandals are also helping me attain “easy” because they’re the perfect color and go with everything. My favorite thing, however, is that the heel is cutout in the back, whereas a lot of sandals have the piece of material that cover it up.
Yes, it’s the little things that count!
Do you guys have a hard time describing your personal style? I’d love to hear!

Thank you! I’m starting to think maybe I should get a new one so I don’t wear this one out! Lol
I always think of my style as classic with a twist. For the most part I’m pretty classic but I like mixing in an edgier piece here and there.

Definitely agree. I love adding a leather jacket in the cooler months for that edgier vibe! Thanks for sharing 🙂
