Holding on to Summer

how-to-wear-white-jeans-in-the-fallHow is it Monday already? Lately I’ve been feeling myself living for the weekend… just racing through the week in anticipation of Friday. We only have one life to live and you’re supposed to cherish every second, so here’s hoping that’s easier said than done!

I know last week marked the official start of fall, but as long as it’s above 70 degrees (… and when has it not been), then I’m still going to treat it like it’s summer – striped button downs, white jeans, sandals… you name it! Here in the Midwest we live most of the year in the cold, so you can bet I’m going to hold on to summer for as long as possible. I honestly don’t see how people are wearing sweaters, blanket scarves, or boots… like aren’t y’all hot?

Anyways, I picked up this striped button down from Banana Republic, and it was the perfect staple this summer! I’m a sucker for anything striped, and the slightly oversized fit completely sold me. I know I always say this, but I really am trying to buy things that are more timeless, and won’t just wear for a few months – so you can believe I’ll be holding on to this! The one rule I do follow, however, is not wearing linen into fall, so I must say that I’m super sad to be parting with this little number for the next few months.

Striped Button Down: Banana Republic (similar here & with a twist front!) // Jeans: Old Navy (my favorite pair of white jeans) // Sandals: Gianni Bini (similar)

I absolutely adore this top on you Lauren! It is finally starting to cool down in New York but I totally feel you on still dressing like its summer. I’ve been incorporating fall colors into my looks while still dressing for the warm weather.

I completely agree with you about treating it like summer still. I keep finding myself purchasing dress or summer stayed items! Luckily pants with dress is cool now so I can transition them when it actually gets cooler! lol. I love this look! It’s so perfect and could easily be worn for cooler temps too!

Haha exactly and thank you so much! Dresses are my favorite thing to wear and it’s been the ultimate struggle trying to find some that are appropriate for fall! All I want is off-the-shoulder everything and pretty, summery prints!
