2019 was a pretty great year for me — more so than previous years. I don’t say that to brag — because I know it was a tough year for many people — but it was something that I needed, and I’m very grateful. I moved back to Cleveland, started a great new job, took some pretty fun trips, and did a lot of other cool things!
There was also eating. Lots and lots of eating. Probably too much? Which leads me to one of my first personal goals:
PERSONAL
Eating Better and Working Out More
I was proud of myself for joining ClassPass, and worked out a total of 52 times this year! That might seem like absolutely nothing to some people, but to me it was HUGE. I’ve never been someone who works out, so it was a big change. The good thing is that I actually enjoyed it and felt much better, so I’m going to make it a goal to beat 52 classes in 2020.
TRAVELING
Another personal goal of mine is traveling. Fortunately, I’ve already got my first half of the year planned! My parents and I will be heading back to Paris in February (SO excited — I could go there every single year), and then my mom and I will be heading to Amsterdam and Brussels for my birthday in May! Amsterdam was on my 2019 travel bucket list, so I’m glad I’ll be crossing it off this year. I’m also looking forward to taking some smaller trips — Chicago, New York City for the U.S Open again, D.C., and wherever else life leads me.
READING MORE
This is another big one for me. I’ve always been an avid reader, and even used to do reading lists on the blog (which I might bring back). In 2019 I only read 7-8 books, which isn’t that many for me. This year I’m aiming for 15 books total, but am hoping I can surpass it. Some of my favorites this year were Verity, 99 Percent Mine, Three Women and One Day in December.
Quick tip: if you’re a Kindle user — make sure you’re browsing the Kindle Deals on Amazon! They have amazing specials, and I purchase the majority of my books for just $2.99. The only one I paid full price for was Three Women (excellent read, by the way). I actually just purchased American Royals for $2.99 and it only came out in September!
SAVING
My last personal goal is for my finances, as I’m hoping to be more diligent with my spending. Each year I set a goal in my mind of how much to save, so I’m looking forward to challenging myself again! Do I need to shop or eat out every week? Definitely not.
PROFFESIONAL
2019 was a big year for me professionally after starting my new job, so 2020 will be focused on continuing to build my skills and learn as much as I can. I’ve been quietly working on a MAJOR project for the past year-and-a-half, so my fingers are crossed so tightly that I can get it off the ground in 2020! It’s required so much of my time and energy, which is one of the reasons why I’ve been so inconsistent with blogging this year.
BLOGGING
What a great transition! I’ve been going back and forth for a while now on whether I should call it quits on this as I’m working on my project — but I’ve ultimately decided that this was my first real creative project and I love it so much! I’ve actually found myself longing to take photos and post more often, which I hadn’t felt in so long. Plus, I think it’ll be a great extension of my other project and will allow me to spread the word.
So, thanks to all of you who still read this and I hope 2020 is a wonderful year for you! I’ll be back soon 🙂
These are some great goals! I want to read more too so if you start your reading list posts back up I’ll be very excited! Let us know when you visit Chicago so we can try to connect!
