My Goals & Aspirations for 2018

With 2018 just getting started and me sharing my highs and lows of the past year last week, I thought now would be a good time to share some of my goals and aspirations for the upcoming year. You know it’s a lot easier to do things after writing them down, and putting them in the atmosphere! I’m going to take a page out of Jess Ann Kirby’s book, and break them down into various categories.

Personal

If you read last year’s post, you know that this year I wanted to focus on being truly happy again – and I think I’ve come a long way. However, there’s still a lot more progress to be made and I’m going to do whatever it takes to be completely at peace. I also want to dedicate more time to travelling around the country, and even the world this year! And while this may be cliché, I certainly need to make more of an effort to be “healthier” in 2018. I didn’t realize how hard it would be once I moved to Chicago, but there’s just so many different food options! Also, remind me to delete Uber Eats.

Career

This is a bit of a tough one, and probably the one that I agonize over the most. I’ve always heard the stories about recent graduates struggling to find jobs and being unemployed for months at a time, and fortunately I was blessed enough to not have that experience. However, the struggle has been in finding a job that I’m passionate about. This past year and a half has provided me with a bit of insight as to what I do and don’t like, but I still haven’t been able to pinpoint my finger on that one thing that I want to do – except this, of course. However, as much as I wish I could be one of those people that quits their job to focus on their hobby, I don’t have that luxury. So, for now I’m going to focus this year on finding something that gets me just as close to being happy as much as this space does!

Blogging

On a related note, I have so much hope and excitement for this blog in the coming year! I’ve probably said this every year that I’ve had this blog (I actually don’t even remember how many), but 2018 will be so much bigger and better! Although there were many inconsistent periods for me in 2017 (something I want to avoid in 2018), I really did see tremendous growth from the previous years, and am very proud of that! In fact, I already have all of January’s post mapped out, and am currently planning February. I’ve finally realized that this takes time and effort, and I think I’m ready to make the commitment. Some of the things I’m hoping to focus more on specifically are beauty and wellness, as those are two things I’ve recently become super interested in. Last year I probably had like 5 makeup and 3 skincare products, and this year I nearly tripled those… good for me, bad for my wallet ;).
