If you’re a beauty junkie like me, you’ve likely heard of the Olaplex hair system – and I mentioned that I’ve been using it in my post on my favorite Amazon products. It’s most often been used in hair salons, but there’s actually at-home formulas, too! For the past two months I’ve been using the Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector treatment, the Olaplex No. 4 Bond Maintenance Shampoo and the Olaplex No. 5 Bond Maintenance Conditioner, and feel I have a good sense of whether the products are effective. So, let’s dive into my Olaplex review!
A little back story: There was a mishap at one of my hair appointments a few months back, and my hair started to lose its curly texture and felt extremely thin. I had been growing my hair for a while and was really happy with where it was at, so I was desperate to try any and everything to get it back.
I had heard many people talking about Olaplex for a while and how great it was, but my first thought was how could something really be that great, and my second thought was that the bottles were too small for their price ($28). Well, a friend of mine told me that she had seen amazing results, so I decided to give it a try!
After just one use of the Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector I noticed an immediate difference in the texture. After 30 minutes of having it on my hair, it didn’t seem nearly as stringy, and I noticed the coils were coming back (praise the Lord).
I’ve been using the treatment, along with the shampoo and conditioner, for about two months and definitely think it’s helped with making my hair stronger and thicker! One thing to note is that because I have an extremely dry scalp I only use the products once per week. It’s definitely not very moisturizing, so I don’t recommend using it more than that if you don’t want it to strip away your natural oils. The good thing is that the shampoo and conditioner last an extremely long time, so you won’t have to replace it often with that steep price. I also can’t say that my hair is 100% back to where it was because it’s not and because that will take time – but it’s leaps and bounds better than where I started a few months ago.
While it’s not the best smelling product, I definitely think it works and would highly recommend it if you’re trying to strengthen/grow/repair your hair! In fact, I’m about to get my second bottle of the Olaplex No. 3 Hair Perfector! It’s also a great product no matter your hair type, and really works to strengthen your hair bonds.
